Freestanding baths create a luxurious and spacious feel, but getting the proportions right is key.

For the best visual impact and practicality, allowing at least 200mm of clearance around the bath is ideal. This prevents it from feeling cramped and makes cleaning easier. If positioning wall to wall, an 180cm bath would typically require a minimum space of around 220cm to maintain the right balance of aesthetics and accessibility.

Acrylic options are lightweight and more cost-effective, while composite and stone baths offer a more premium, solid feel with excellent heat retention.

Due to the size and weight of some baths, a site review is often essential. Considerations such as access upstairs, doorways, and structural support all play a role in determining suitability.

With the right space and planning, a freestanding bath can become the centrepiece of a well-designed bathroom.

Taps

Wall-mounted or floor-standing taps are paired with freestanding baths. These options enhance the overall aesthetic and contribute to a more luxurious finish, but they do come with higher purchase and installation costs.

They also require more precise planning and installation, particularly where pipework needs to be concealed within floors or walls. Product placement also needs to be carefully considered, especially with floor-mounted taps, to ensure both usability and visual balance.

This should be considered during the design and planning stages..
